Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist

  • Maternity Leave Coverage – 12-month Contract
  • Part-Time Position, 30 Hours per week

Chemtronics Direct is the primary provider for repairs, maintenance and refurbishment of assistive technologies services for the State-wide Equipment Program (SWEP) and currently operates throughout Victoria. Chemtronics Direct, as an operating division of Cabrini Health, strives to deliver the highest levels of service to its extensive client portfolio, by offering excellent value for money whilst providing an invaluable service to the community. Chemtronics Direct currently has a vacancy for an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the Victorian team.

This role is responsible for providing consistent and accurate product knowledge to clients and industry professionals, including recommendations on suitability of reissue equipment, as well customisation options to the SWEP prescribers and clients.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Match and provide expert advice on the suitability of Assistive Technologies (AT) to meet specific clients’ needs
  • Work with and the Chemtronics and SWEP teams to ensure AT meets clients’ needs
  • Provide expert advice on modifications and adjustments to wheelchairs, postural seating and other AT to ensure clients’ needs are met
  • Liaise with clients and other industry professionals and provide clinical support and professional advice on the suitability of AT for clients, particularly in relation to wheelchairs and postural seating.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • Registration as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist
  • Specific experience with Assistive Technology equipment and terminology
  • Demonstrated experience working with special needs clients
  • Provision of evidence based, person-centred, Assistive Technology provision in a range of health and community settings
  • Registered with SWEP as a ‘red’ prescriber (or equivalent in other jurisdictions)
  • Significant experience as an Assistive Technology prescriber, including experience with disabled children or adults and aged care
  • Experience in assessment for, and recommendation of Assistive Technologies
  • Experience in assessment for, and prescription of wheelchairs and postural seating.
  • Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of people with disabilities (including the full range impairments and diagnoses) and the equipment they use for activities of daily living
  • Extensive knowledge of Assistive Technologies and their application for people with disability and older people
  • Extensive knowledge of the disability and health sector
  • Police check (employers cost) and WWCC (employees cost) are both required for this position
